Medical disclaimer

Read this before you use the analyzer. It is the most important page on this site.
This is not a medical service
ALBATROS Skin Analyzer is a cosmetic appearance tool. It looks at a photograph and describes what is visible on the surface of skin, in the way a beauty consultant might. It is not a medical device, it is not regulated as one, and it is not operated by clinicians.
It does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease, disorder or condition. Nothing it produces is a medical opinion, and nothing it produces should be used to decide whether to seek, delay or stop medical care.
What the output actually is
The scores, observations and heat maps are generated by artificial intelligence models reading a single two-dimensional photograph. They reflect what those models believed was visible in that specific image, under that specific lighting, at that specific moment.
- The models can be wrong, and sometimes are.
- Lighting, camera quality, filters, makeup, sweat, recent exercise, time of day and screen calibration all change the result.
- Scores are relative indicators for tracking change over time. They are not measurements of skin health and have no clinical meaning.
- Two scans taken minutes apart may differ. That is a property of photography, not a change in your skin.
Always see a qualified professional if
- A mole, freckle or mark is changing in size, shape or colour.
- You have a mark that is asymmetric, has an irregular border, or contains several colours.
- Skin is broken, bleeding, weeping or crusting.
- An area is painful, hot, swollen or spreading.
- A rash appears suddenly or covers a large area.
- Anything does not clear up, or keeps coming back.
- You are worried. That reason alone is sufficient.
Do not use this tool to decide whether something needs medical attention. If in doubt, see a doctor.
When we stop and refer you
If our models see something that falls outside cosmetic scope — a mark that looks asymmetric or changing, broken skin, signs of inflammation or infection, an unidentified growth — the analyzer will:
- Stop making product recommendations for that area entirely;
- Tell you plainly that the area needs a professional look;
- Decline to speculate about what it might be.
A referral message is not a finding that something is wrong. It means the tool has reached the edge of what it is allowed to assess. Equally, the absence of a referral message is not reassurance that nothing is wrong.
Adults only
This service is for people aged 18 and over, analysing their own skin. Do not upload photographs of children. Do not upload photographs of another person without their informed consent.
Ingredients, allergies and pregnancy
Recommendations are matched against published ingredient lists. We withhold certain ingredient families where you have told us you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have sensitive skin — but this is a courtesy filter based on cosmetic-industry convention, not medical advice.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescribed medication, undergoing any treatment, or have a known allergy, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using any new product. Always patch test. Discontinue use if any reaction occurs.
No results are promised
Nothing on this site is a promise of a cosmetic outcome. Individual results vary and depend on factors well outside a skincare routine.
Emergencies
This tool cannot help in an emergency and no one monitors it. If you are having a severe allergic reaction, difficulty breathing, or any medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
